A relaxed, ambient & welcoming restaurant for Michelin Star Chef Tom Shepherd
FiFi worked closely with chef Tom Shepherd to create his debut restaurant in the heart of Lichfield, restaurant ‘Upstairs’. Which after only 4 months of being open to the public attained the incredible accolade of 1 Michelin Star! Staffordshire’s first & only 1 Michelin Star restaurant; testament to Chef Tom, his vision and his talented team.
Our brief was to develop a welcoming and beautiful restaurant which is the perfect blend of refined and relaxing. It was key to entice customer’s in from street level and lead them upstairs to the first floor restaurant. Restaurant Upstairs by Tom Shepherd is an inviting and relaxed space which celebrates flavour-led, fine dining cuisine.
The result is a modern interpretation of a restaurant with soft touches and a hint of organic foliage. Upstairs by Tom Shepherd pays subtle homage to the history of the first floor space and also to the third generation family business of Jewellery which can be found on the ground floor.

FiFi Interiors helped to realise my dreams of delivering my debut restaurant and subsequently assisted with the restaurant’s extension. Utilising imagination and expertise; ‘Upstairs’ is an elegant, modern interpretation of a fine dining restaurant. I would highly recommend Kendall & Mimi’s interiors service to anyone searching for a dedicated & creative design duo, who are always on hand to support and provide feedback long after the project is complete.
