8 Restaurant
FIFI Interiors worked with with Chef Andrew Sheridan to create his first solo restaurant.
“8” is a new Birmingham restaurant that celebrates everything 8. Andrew is a young, innovative Chef and has featured on BBC’s Great British Menu twice!
The menu & interior of 8, Birmingham is all influenced by the number 8 and subtle influences can be seen throughout the space. The layered lighting design creates intimacy & intrigue within the restaurant. Electric blue neons are complimented by warm, glowing amber orange illuminated features. Focused, ambient lighting highlights key areas whilst keeping the general feel quite dark and moody.
Our use of different materials, textures, finishing & detailing that link to the number ‘8’ but in a subtle and discreet way, are hinted at throughout. 8 curved table lamps, 16 bar stools, 32 neon tubes & the list goes on! Diners are immersed into the experience with an open island style theatre kitchen and dining bar which wraps around Andy & his team.
Working closely with Andy’s proposed menu concepts, we delved into a futuristic exploration of sensory indulgence.
The aim?
To transport guests on a experiential & culinary journey into the unusual & unknown! Our inspiration for the design concept came from a variety of sources including the ‘8’ planets within our solar system. Some of the finishes & the colour palette within the venue reflect this. Playing with mirrors, reflections & lighting to distort the surroundings creates the illusion of infinity (another subtle 8 reference!).
8 Restaurant, Birmingham for Andy Sheridan officially opened it’s doors 8th October 2020.
